Crisis and emergency

If you need help for a mental health crisis or emergency, you should get immediate expert advice and assessment.

It's important to know that support is available. Mental health emergencies are serious. You matter. People care about you and will listen to you.

If you're in the UK

If you feel like you might attempt suicide, or may have seriously harmed yourself, you need urgent medical help. Please:

call 999 for an ambulance

go straight to an A&E department (they're open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and anyone can visit them free of charge), or

call a local mental health helpline like Samaritans: 116 123 (free to call from within the UK and Ireland), 24 hours a day

for finding a therapist in England

for an online community and peer support

If you're in the US

If you feel like you might attempt suicide, or may have seriously harmed yourself, you need urgent medical help. Please:

call 911

go to the nearest emergency room

call 1-800-273-8255 to reach a 24-hour crisis center, or text MHA to 741741 at the Crisis Text Line

you can also call 1-800-985-5990 or text “TalkWithUs” to 66746 at the SAMHSA Disaster Distress Helpline. Trained crisis workers will listen to you and direct you to the resources you need.

If you're in Germany

If you feel like you might attempt suicide, or may have seriously harmed yourself, you need urgent medical help. Please:

call 112

go to the nearest emergency room

call or visit your local crisis center. The Berliner Krisendienst can be reached around the clock, 365 days per year. You can go see them in person from 4 pm to midnight in their nine regional offices. Please find more information (in English) at Berliner Krisendienst.
